Recognition Štampa

As a nice tradition, Zemun International Salon of Caricature each year gives Recognition for the overall contribution to the world of Yugoslavian cartooning. The decision of that award is on the Council of the Salon. This recognition got the following artists:

1997.

IVO KUŠANIĆ
Born in 1924 in Zagreb where he graduated from the Fine Arts Academy. Lived in Belgrade since 1944 and worked as a cartoonists in newspapers "Jež" and "Politika". Won several prestigious awards and was very successful as a painter. Died in 2003.

1998.

MILAN BESARABIĆ
Born in 1908 in Čačak, lives in Belgrade. Lawyer, poet, musician, painter, sculptor… One of the few artists world around who makes caricatures in a sculptural form. One of the founders of famous Zemun school of caricature.

2000.

PREDRAG KORAKSIĆ
The leading Serbian editorial cartoonist was born in 1933 near Čačak. As the child he arrived to Zemun and became one of the founders of Zemun school of caricature. He had about 25 personal exhibitions, published 10 book and won several important prizes.

2001.

DRAGAN RUMENČIĆ
Born in 1935 in Zemun, where he still lives. One of the founders of the famous “Zemun school of Caricature”. Even architect, he spent all his life in “Jež” as cartoonist and editor. Winner of more than fifty prizes on competitions all over the world, and made one cartoons book.

2002.

ALEKSANDAR KLAS
Born in 1928 in Skoplje, lived in Belgrade. Since 1950 published over 30.000 cartoons in country and abroad and had over 60 personal exhibitions. He won more than 120 national and international prizes, more than any Serbian cartoonist. Also worked as painter, illustrator and book designer. Died in 2002.

2003.

VLADA KATIĆ
Born in 1934 in Belgrade, now lives in Smederevo. All his life he worked as a journalist, cartoonist and book illustrator. He published more than 15.000 cartoons in national and international newspapers, exhibited at all continents and won numerous international awards for cartoon prizes.

2004.

ZORAN JOVANOVIĆ
Born in 1938 in Novi Sad but since childhood lived in Zemun. Published cartoons in
many newspapers in country and abroad and won awards on the biggest world contests. Had around 30 personal exhibitions in several countries and published 2 books. Very successful was in animated movies. Now lives in New York and works as a professor

2005.

SLOBODAN OBRADOVIĆ
Born in 1937 in Podgorica. He lives for a long time in Zemun. Graduated from the Low University, he used to work at Administration of Justice. Obradović is the winner of about 20 important prizes.

2006.

ALEKSANDAR DASKALOVIĆ
Born in 1925 in Belgrade, where he spent all his life working as the cartoonist and illustrator. Wellknown as sport cartoonist. The winner of a lot of prizes for cartoons and design.

2007.

 RANKO GUZINA
Born in 1939, since 1963 lives in Belgrade where he graduated from High School of Law. All his working cariere spent as journalist and cartoonist. He published several cartoon books, had around ten personal exhibitions and won a lot of national and internaltional awards.

2008.

 JOVAN PROKOPLJEVIĆ
Born in 1940 in Zemun, where he lives. For a long time he worked as an architect. Since 1992 became a professional cartoonist. He had 35 presonal exhibitions, and won a lot of prizes.

DUŠAN PETRIČIĆ
Born in 1946 in Zemun. Graduated from the Academy of Applied Art in Belgrade. His cartoons are published since 1965 in a lot of newspapers in country and abroad. He published also several books and won a lot of awards. Since 1995 he lives and works in Canada.

2010.

JUGOSLAV VLAHOVIĆ
Born in 1949 in Belgrade where still lives and works as an illustrator and cartoonist. Graduated from the Applied Arts Academv where is now a professor of graphic design. Publishes works in a lot of Serbian and abroad newspapers and magazines. Had 70 per-sonal exhibitions, published 7 books and won numerous of awards. President of FECO Serbia.
